Anti-terror operations to continue in Kashmir: Police

Srinagar, Feb 08: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday said that those anti-terror operations will continue with full intensity in Kashmir and stated that the fight against ‘terrorism’ will continue until peace prevails in the region.
A senior police officer told Rising Kashmir that there will be no let-up and anti-terrorist operations. Where ever we get any specific information it will be followed by operations,” the officer said.
About security situation, the police officer said there is no visible threat of any external forces. We are alert to thwart any action by the anti-national forces and the situation is under control in Valley, he said.
On  January17, three Laskar-e-Taiba terrorists were killed near the court complex Budgam. While more than a dozen terror associates were arrested by police in various parts of Kashmir.
Regarding number of terrorists, OGWs active in Kashmir, the senior officer said the number of Ultras has reduced to less than half of what it used to be in the past.
 “We are working for peace and progress in Kashmir. We have reviewed the prevailing security situation in the region along with top officials, the army, BSF, and CRPF,” he said.
ADGP Vijay Kumar Kashmir Zone has already appealed to misguided youth who have joined terror folds to shun the path of terrorism and return to the mainstream. He appealed to parents and elders of these terrorists to plead with their wards to shun this reckless path of violence.
Recently ADGP Kumar visited chaired a detailed security review meeting in south and north Kashmir districts. During the meeting, he was briefed about the overall prevailing security situation, and counter-Infiltration grids and counter-terrorist operations in the Valley.
