Jammu, Feb 07: Furthering its investigation, two more people including a District Development Council (DDC) member were arrested for pelting stones at police personnel, and revenue officials and creating a law and order problem during the anti-encroachment drive in the Malik Market area of Narwal, Jammu last Saturday.
“Two more people were arrested today for pelting stones and creating hurdles in the anti-encroachment drive,” SHO Narwal, Nayat Ali told Rising Kashmir. “Some more people could be arrested in this connection as the investigation is still going on.”
With these arrests, the number of persons arrested for pelting stones and creating hurdles in the anti-encroachment drive launched by the J&K administration to retrieve the government land has gone up to 9.
An official informed that one more suspect was detained on Tuesday for questioning by police after getting some clues and leads during the investigation.
Police have collected evidence and are also going through CCTV footage collected from various spots. Many people have been identified for pelting stones and damaging public property and vehicles.
Three police personnel were injured in stone pelting on Saturday last week during a drive against encroachment wherein the State land was being retrieved wherein a vehicle showroom was raised in the Malik Market area of Narwal.  The owner of the showroom is also among the arrested people, police said.
