Srinagar, Feb 27: Jammu and Kashmir Anjuman-e-Sharie Shian has launched a signature campaign to seek support for the implementation of the ban on alcohol in Kashmir Valley.
Talking to media persons on the sidelines of ‘Istiqbal Mahie Ramzan’ Anjuman President Aga Syed Hassan Mosavi Al-Safavi said the valley is grappling with serious drug abuse, even as alcohol consumption also becoming a major issue.
“We have gathered here to deliberate on the issues that have off late become a cause of concern for society in general and for our youth in particular,” he said.
Aga Syed added, “Side by side with the programme being held to welcome the holy month of Ramadan, we have launched a signature campaign to seek a complete ban on trade, consumption and related activities to alcohol. We are hopeful that we would be joined by the people in this noble cause so that we free this land from this menace.”
