The Jammu and Kashmir government on Monday ordered the constitution of a three member committee to probe the “alleged irregularities in the written test” for sub-Inspector posts in J&K police by Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board.

In an order issued by the J&K government, it has appointed a three member committee headed by the Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary), Home Department and has asked to submit its report within 15 days.

As per the order, the J & K government in the probe committee has included Principal Secretary General Administration Department and Secretary Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.

“The committee may co-opt any other member as may be required and shall submit report/ recommendations taking into account all aspects of the selection process within a period of 15 days from the date of the issuance of this order” reads the order, adding that the inquiry committee shall be serviced by the General Administration Department.

Earlier, Lieutenant Governor said, “From the last two-three days, newspapers have been reporting against the conduct of the Sub Inspection selection process by JKSSB. We have decided to constitute a committee headed by Additional Chief Secretary Home Sh. R K Goyal that will probe into the matter and submit its report in a time bound manner.

No questions were raised at any other recruitment done so far. If there is any apprehension and doubt in the mind of the people, then it is the duty of the administration to carry out an impartial inquiry and take necessary action. If any irregularity is revealed in the probe, the process shall be cancelled and fresh recruitment will be made, added the Lt Governor.
