Srinagar, Feb 19: On the auspicious occasion of Mehraj Un Nabi (PBUH) Thousands of devotees thronged the Dargah Hazratbal shrine on Sunday to catch a glimpse of the ‘Mou e Muqadas’ , the holy relic of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). The holy relic was displayed to devotees since early morning after Fajar prayers and  each  prayer thereafter.

People including men, women, and children from different parts of the valley, gathered at the shrine, and were seen reciting verses of the holy Quran when the holy relic was displayed.

Devotees in huge numbers were seen offering congregational prayers After the culmination of prayers, Holy relic was  displayed to thousands of devotees present at the shrine.

The elaborate arrangements were made by the district administration as well as the traffic department here to ensure smooth flow of traffic and people to Hazratbal shrine.

The traffic department had also made special parking arrangements for the devotees. Besides SMC, Health, Jal Shakti, and other departments had deployed their men and machinery to ensure hassle-free facilities for the visiting people.

The congregational prayers were also witnessed at Khanka E Moula (RA), Khanyar, Makhdoom sahab (RA) and Sarai-Bala   and other major shrines and mosques across the city.

The religious clerics on the occasion shed light on the teachings and life of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and urged Muslims in general to stay away from wrongdoing and tread the path of piety.

Similar religious congregations were held across Kashmir . Mehraj-ul-Alam gatherings were also held at Asar Sharief Lal Bazar, Jenab Saheb Soura, Kalashpora, Syed Sahib-Sonwar, Makhama-Beerwah, and other places located across the Kashmir Valley.

Each year, Shab-e-Mehraj is celebrated on the 27th of the Islamic month of Rajab ul Murajab with  shrines and mosques across Kashmir remaining abuzz with its celebrations.

The eve, also called Al-Isra-wal-Me’raj, holds significance as the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is believed to have gone on a journey to skies to meet Allah (SWT) after crossing over seven skies on this day.
