Srinagar, Jan 12: Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to prioritise the Sadhna Pass Tunnel in Karnah Kupwara.
This long-awaited project, initiated by MoRTH and BRO, promises all-weather connectivity to the remote regions of Karnah and Tangdhar, which remain cut off during harsh winters, severely impacting trade, tourism and healthcare, the party said.
AIP chief spokesperson Inam Un Nabi in a statement emphasised the tunnel’s transformative potential and also appealed for the construction of similar tunnels for Machil, Gurez, Vailoo-Kishtwar and Shopian-Surankote, ensuring round-the-clock connectivity across Jammu and Kashmir.
Inam further urged the PM to release incarcerated MP Er Rasheed, who secured a democratic mandate while in Tihar Jail, representing 18 Assembly constituencies, 40% of the Valley’s population. “Releasing Er Rasheed would honour the people’s will and restore their faith in justice,” he added.
Additionally, the AIP called for the release of prisoners and the restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. He also called for addressing the grievances of the Jammu and Kashmir.
