With over 95% of the construction work for the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Vijaypur in Samba district of Jammu reaching completion, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, has initiated the crucial phase of procuring high-tech equipment for the health institute.
Some of the high-tech and ultra-modern equipment/machines required for AIIMS Vijaipur are slated to be imported from Germany, America, and various European nations. The procurement process for these state-of-the-art machines has been set in motion by the Government of India.
“The procurement process for the high-tech and ultra-modern equipment/machines has been initiated by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare,” informed Dr. Shakti Gupta, Director of AIIMS Jammu. He added, “Many other equipment/machines made in India have already started reaching AIIMS at Vijaipur.”
The Government of India has entrusted the company ‘Hites’ with the procurement of high-tech equipment/machines from Germany, America, and other European nations for AIIMS Jammu. Notable machines include CT-Scan, MRI, Linear Accelerator, and other ultra-modern medical equipment.
Dr. Gupta emphasized that Indian-made equipment/machines have already started arriving at AIIMS, while those slated for import will take some time.
With more than 95% of the construction work completed, the Director anticipates the full functionality of AIIMS Jammu once the imported equipment/machines arrive. The formal inauguration is expected shortly after the installation of these cutting-edge medical technologies.
In June of last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally reviewed the progress of the construction of two AIIMS institutions in Jammu and Kashmir. He directed authorities to ensure their timely completion, emphasizing the importance of these medical facilities.
Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, during an on-the-spot visit to AIIMS Jammu on January 1st, reinforced the commitment to the project’s swift completion. He issued instructions to both the AIIMS administration and the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) to expedite the project, aiming for an early formal inauguration.
