New Delhi, June 07: The Chairman of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Prof. T.G. Sitharam, officially launched the “Young Achievers’ Scholarship and Holistic Academic Skills Venture Initiative (YASHASVI) Scheme 2024” for Civil, Chemical, Electrical, Electronics, and Mechanical Engineering (CCEEM) Degree/Diploma students.
During the launch, Prof. Sitharam emphasized the scheme’s goal of promoting core engineering branches, highlighting their pivotal role in the growth of manufacturing industries. He said, “The YASHASVI initiative is designed to support meritorious students pursuing technical education in core branches of engineering. This scholarship aims to encourage talented students to enroll in Civil, Chemical, Electrical, Electronics, and Mechanical Engineering programs at AICTE approved technical institutions.” He further stated that the core engineering sector has to play a major role in the development of India. Core engineering courses have the potential to turn India into a global leader in technology. AICTE is working to strengthen the core engineering courses. Council’s efforts to boost core engineering education and improve job opportunities for students are praiseworthy. The event was also attended by Vice Chairman Dr. Abhay Jere and Member Secretary Prof. Rajive Kumar.
Each year, the scholarship will benefit 5,000 students, with 2,500 scholarships allocated for degree students and 2,500 for diploma students. Degree students will receive rupees 18,000 per year for a maximum of four years, while diploma students will receive rupees 12,000 per year for up to three years. Scholarships will be disbursed directly to students via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Eligibility for the scholarship is based on merit. For degree level students, selection is based on their 12th grade qualifications, while diploma level students are selected based on their 10th grade qualifications. To renew the scholarship each year, students must submit their passing certificate/marksheet along with a letter from the Head of their Institution. Applications for the YASHASVI scholarship will be invited once a year. Eligible candidates are required to apply online on National Scholarship Portal (NSP) after initiation of application process.
