Agri deptt sends 33 farmers on inter-state exposure tour

Srinagar, Feb 23: A group of 33 farmers from three districts of Kashmir was flagged off by joint Director (JD) agriculture (inputs) Kashmir Farooq Ahmad Bhat on Thursday for an exposure cum training visit outside the UT of J&K from the farmer training centre Ganderbal Kashmir.
The seven day exposure visit has been organised by the Farmers Training Centre (FTC),Ganderbal Kashmir under Sub Mission on Agriculture Extension(SMAE) of centrally sponsored schemes, National Mission for Agriculture Extension Technology(NAET-ATMA).
JD while interacting with the farmers on the occasion, said that the visit has been organised for making the farmers aware of the latest technologies for commercial agriculture, Realtime trends in organic farming and cultivation of different agriculture crops on scientific lines.
He impressed upon the farmers to interact with the farm scientists, experts, and extension functionaries to get acquainted with upto date methodologies in crop cultivation on scientific lines. 
JD asked the farmers to enhance their technical skills in the field of integrated farming and to adopt the advanced technologies for cultivation of different agricultural crops after learning from such training, exposure visits.
He said that under the holistic document special attention has been given to the capacity building of farmers and to achieve this target a number of programs have been devised.  
Giving details of the programme deputy director Agriculture (trainings)Kashmir, Idris Bashir Ahmad said that the group of 33 farmers (in 2nd phase ) from pulwama, kulgam and shopian will visit Punjab Agriculture University (PAU)Ludhiana Punjab, National Diary Research Institute, Karnal, Haryana and Indian Institute of wheat and barley research Institute Karnal, Haryana. 
Chief Agriculture officer Pulwama Mohammad Iqbal Khan, district Agriculture officer Pulwama Shahnawaz Ahmad Shah and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
