Srinagar, Apr 21: The iconic Tulip Garden in Srinagar will shut its gates to the public on the evening of April 24, marking the end of a highly successful spring season.
The decision, announced by the Directorate of Floriculture Kashmir Shakeel ul Rehman Rather follows the recommendation of the Tulip Committee. Since its opening on March 26, the garden has attracted a staggering 827,830 visitors, showcasing the enduring appeal of Kashmir’s floral spectacle.
This year’s footfall data revealed impressive numbers, with the highest single-day turnout recorded on April 13, when 70,430 visitors flocked to the garden. Other peak days included April 6 (81,352 visitors) and April 12 (52,351 visitors).
National tourists formed the majority, followed by locals and a steady stream of international guests. The garden’s popularity was further highlighted on April 1, when 44,646 visitors arrived, likely due to the long weekend.
Over the past three years, the Tulip Garden has cemented its status as a must-visit destination in Kashmir. Spread across hectares of land with over a million tulip bulbs in bloom, the annual Tulip Show not only draws tourists but also boosts the local economy.
This year’s cumulative visitor count surpassed previous records, reflecting growing interest in Kashmir’s horticultural marvels.
As the season concludes, officials are already preparing for next year’s edition, aiming to enhance the visitor experience. The garden’s closure aligns with the natural lifecycle of tulips, ensuring their preservation for future blooms.
Shakeel Ul Rehman Rather, Director of Floriculture Kashmir, expressed gratitude to visitors and promised an even grander display in 2026.
For now, the vibrant sea of tulips will retreat, leaving behind memories of another spectacular season in Srinagar’s cherished floral paradise.
