Srinagar, June 17: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) General Secretary (Organization) Mehboob Beg on Saturday addressed a press conference and talked about “scams in government recruitments, especially the Fire & Emergency Services Department, curtailment in subsidized rations and pathetic state of electricity supply”.
Flanked by Mohit Bhan and Najmu Saqib, Beg questioned the Lieutenant Governor administration and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP): “Since 5 August 2019, why do scams emerge in every government recruitment drive of Jammu and Kashmir?”
In another dig at the LG administration, he said, “The lack of accountability and proper action against those found guilty in previous recruitment scams has once again forced the youth to protest. Now, we are seeing youth protesting against another possible scam in the recruitment drive of the Fire and Emergency Services Department. Earlier, a committee was formed to probe these allegations, but why is the report submitted by this committee not being made public.”
“Given the overall scenario of joblessness,” the PDP leader said, “Many states like Andhra Pradesh, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh have measures in place for ensuring jobs produced within these states are taken up by the locals only, however, in J&K the administration is opening up the jobs for everyone. This is done at a time when J&K has one of the highest unemployment rates in the country.”
While referring to the administration’s policy of curtailment, he said, “The people are made to suffer due to lack of electricity as the electricity produced by using J&K’s water resources is supplied to places. Unfortunately, the curtailment is not confined to electricity only, even the subsidized rations are not being provided to people of Jammu & Kashmir.”
“The LG administration should wake up from the deep slumber and must look for the immediate redressal of all the issues highlighted in the interest of the public,” he said.
