Srinagar, Apr05:Ahead of LokSabha elections, the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) for Law & Order J&K, Vijay Kumar, also serving as the State Police Nodal officer (SPNO) for the parliament election 2024, conducted a comprehensive review of election-related preparedness for the Anantnag-Rajouri Parliamentary constituency in Anantnag.
The meeting, attended by key stakeholders including the Central Armed Police Force’s (CAPF) nodal officer for J&K, IG CRPF G K Verma, DC/RO Anantnag, DC Kulgam, DIG Police SKR, and DIG CRPF SSP Ang&Kulgam, focused on devising strategies to ensure the smooth conduct of elections.
Emphasizing the paramount importance of security, especially concerning on-site security and the seamless execution of elections, discussions revolved around enhancing security arrangements.
“The discussion covered plans for creating secure paths for electoral staff movement and ensuring the safety and effectiveness of security personnel during election duties,” he said.
Special attention was given to securing the ballot storage area, with a strong emphasis on implementing robust measures to safeguard the integrity of the election process. Special security measures for critical polling locations were also deliberated upon, with strategies devised to enhance security at these pivotal sites, addressing potential threats and preserving the sanctity of the electoral process.

ADGP L&O reiterated the unwavering commitment of law enforcement agencies to uphold the principles of democracy by ensuring a secure and equitable electoral environment for all stakeholders involved.
The LokSabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir are scheduled to be held in seven phases. The first phase is set for April 19, followed by the second phase on April 26, the third phase on May 7, the fourth phase on May 13, the fifth phase on May 20, the sixth phase on May 25, and the seventh phase on June 1, 2024.
