SRINAGAR, AUG 30: In a significant development, the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Vijay Kumar-IPS, accompanied by GoC Victor Force, undertook a comprehensive visit to several districts in Jammu and Kashmir.
The purpose of the visit was to chair pivotal security review meetings with officers from both the Police and Army units. The meetings, held in Pulwama, Kulgam, Shopian, and Budgam, aimed at to assess the prevailing security situation, discuss counter-insurgency strategies, and reinforce police-public relations for sustainable peace.
In Pulwama, the gathering took place at the District Police Lines conference hall, in which Army Sector Commanders Army Sector Commander-12 Sector RR, Sector Commander-5 sector RR, Commanding officer- 44 RR, Commanding officer- 55 RR, Commanding officer 50RR and 53RR and SSP Pulwama Mohd Yousif. The meeting was also attended by ASP Pulwama Tanveer Ahmad-JKPS, SP Headquarters Pulwama Showkat Rafiq Wani, SDPO Litter, DySP PC Kakapora and DySP PC Pulwama were present.
The meeting in Kulgam was attended by CO’s of Army (9RR, 34RR), 2 Sector commander, 1 sector commander and SSP Kulgam and other officers.
The meeting in Shopian was attended by Commander 12 Sector, Commander 2 sector RR, and all Co’s of Army, SSP Shopian and other officers.
The meeting delved into a comprehensive assessment of the security scenario, with particular attention to the activities of Foreign Terrorists (FTs) and the gathering of vital human intelligence. The discussions underscored the importance of joint operations between the Army and J&K Police, emphasising night operations and enhanced coordination.
Similar meetings were convened in Kulgam, Shopian, and Budgam, where high-ranking officials from both security forces convened to evaluate the ongoing anti-terrorism efforts. The officers presented a comprehensive overview of the security landscape within their respective districts, including updates on recent incidents, anti-terrorism measures, and law enforcement strategies.
Acknowledging the dedication and diligence of the J&K Police and security personnel, Vijay Kumar expressed his appreciation for their efforts in maintaining law and order. The meetings fostered a platform for open dialogue, enabling an insightful assessment of counter-insurgency operations and strategies aimed at preserving peace.
During these discussions, GOC Victor Force emphasized the necessity for enhanced synergy between field officers and directed them to intensify their presence during night time operations. The focus on accurate identification and tracking of hybrid terrorists was highlighted, further emphasizing the importance of actionable intelligence.
ADGP Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, advocated for precision-based operations, suggesting the use of specialized teams and innovative approaches to neutralize terrorists. The importance of robust police-public relations and service-oriented policing was also stressed, as this strategy is seen as instrumental in gaining the trust and cooperation of the general public.
Meanwhile, Vijay Kumar instructed SSP Pulwama to take stringent action against Over Ground Workers (OGWs) who were recently involved in recruiting new individuals into terror ranks in the district. Moreover, discussions revolved around implementing additional security measures to deter terror incidents and streamline the process for identifying and addressing hybrid terrorists.
