Srinagar, 03 Oct: Terming the video clip, that alleged the jailed DSP Aadil Mushtaq’s involvement in the recent Kokerag encounter, as baseless, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Vijay Kumar on Tuesday said that this type of irresponsible journalism is an act of criminal misconduct and is liable for legal action.

While quoting ADGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar in a post on X, Kashmir Zone Police said,“It has come to notice that a video news item has been uploaded purportedly issued by a news agency by the name of Bharat TAK suggesting that DSP Adil Mushtaq is involved in the Kokernag terror incident as an insider betrayal. There is no truth to this video news,” Kashmir Zone Police in a post on X, said.

“DSP Adil Mushtaq is being investigated for an entirely different case in Srinagar district and not in Anantnag. This type of #irresponsible #journalism is also an act of criminal misconduct and is liable for legal action: ADGP Kashmir,” he said.

On Sunday, Jammu and Kashmir administration suspended two police officials, including deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Sheikh Adil Mushtaq, who was arrested last week on allegations of corruption.

In September, Adil was recently arrested on grave charges of corruption, evidence tampering and alleged terror links. Following this development, a five-member Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by a Superintendent of Police, delved into the DSP’s case due to its broader implications.

He was arrested on the basis of an FIR No. 149/2023 registered under Section 7, 7A of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Sections 167, 193, 201, 210, 218, 221 of the Indian Penal Code. He was remanded to a six-day police custody. Substantial documents, a laptop, and other electronic devices were seized from his residence during the investigation.
