Abhinav Theatre fully operational after upgrades: Govt

Jammu, Mar 22: The Jammu and Kashmir government said the Abhinav Theatre in Jammu is now fully operational.
It said a budget of Rs 5.69 lakh was allocated for the repair of the theatre’s rooftop during the current financial year under the CAPEX scheme, and the work has been completed in its entirety.
Responding to a question posed by MLA Arvind Gupta during the Assembly session, the Minister in charge of the Culture Department provided details regarding the budget allocations for various development projects at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu for the current financial year, as follows:
A. Rooftop repair of Abhinav Theatre, Jammu: An allocation of Rs 5.69 lakh was made under CAPEX, with 100% of the work completed.
B. Construction of a compound wall for Abhinav Theatre, Jammu: Rs 37.41 lakh was allocated under CAPEX, with 90% of the work completed.
C. Upgradation and repair of Abhinav Theatre, Jammu: An allocation of Rs 41.60 lakh was made under CAPEX, and the work has been fully completed.
D. Upgradation of the sound system, lighting system, and curtains in Abhinav Theatre, Jammu: The Minister confirmed that 100% of the work has been completed by the Public Works (R&B) department. The estimated expenditure of Rs 101.93 lakh is being recorded under the Grant in Aid of the J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages (JKAACL).
