Srinagar, Jan 19: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday claimed that their Kashmir office was vandalised for the second time and alleged that the government is not paying attention towards providing security cover to them terming it a deliberate attempt to demoralise leaders to weaken party’s structure.
A Party spokesperson said the party office in Kashmir was earlier vandalised on 1st of January while a second incident took place on Wednesday evening.
Aam Aadmi Party leaders including General Secretary Central Kashmir zone Syed Muzamil Rizvi, Youth President Central Kashmir Jibran Dar and Youth President North Kashmir Hakim Rizwan Illahi in their statement mentioned about these incidents of vandalism of party office in Kashmir and said that these are not incidents of vandalism of a party office but an assault on democratic setup and should be taken seriously.
They said that an incident of vandalism happened on January 1 and second incident on yesterday evening and these twin incidents have shown that some elements in society are hell bent to target AAP.
” More importantly the failure of LG Administration of Jammu and Kashmir to provide security cover to AAP cadre and offices is grave concern and it seems a deliberate attempt to weaken party leadership and to expose it to risk.” said Aam Aadmi Party leaders.
They said the Jammu and Kashmir government is paying no concern for security cover of AAP leadership and offices and multiple requests placed by party leadership have been ignored.
Meanwhile, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and leader of the party in Rajya Sabha, Sanjay Singh has also established a written communication with Lieutenant Governor of J&K, Manoj Sinha with request for security of AAP position holders and office premises.
In his official communication, MP Sanjay Singh has mentioned about attacks by some unidentified people on party office and constant threat being faced by AAP leaders especially while moving in their respective areas.
“We have written time and again to the Election Commission as well as the local District Superintendents to provide basic required security to our key position holders but it has led to no result.” MP Sanjay Singh mentions in his office communication.
“Please consider this letter as an early warning and please don’t blame us later if something wrong happened to our leaders that we did not inform you well in advance.” MP Sanjay Singh further stated in his letter.
“I would like to request you to provide security to the party’s provincial in-charge and district president,” MP Sanjay Singh further mentions in his letter.
