AAP hurting religious sentiments, undermining national unity: Chugh

‘Cases of sacrilege must be thoroughly investigated by CBI’

Chandigarh, Dec 01: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary Tarun Chugh has strongly criticised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), accusing Arvind Kejriwal and his party of consistently hurting religious sentiments and undermining the unity and sovereignty of India.
Chugh referred to the recent verdict by a Malerkotla district court in Punjab, which sentenced AAP MLA Naresh Yadav, from Delhi’s Mehrauli constituency, to two years in prison for his involvement in a case of sacrilege of religious scriptures.
Commenting on this development, the BJP leader alleged that Arvind Kejriwal and the AAP are deliberately playing with communal sentiments and attempting to divide the nation. “Kejriwal has a long history of engaging in activities that foster division. From inciting riots in Delhi to the recent conviction of his close aide, AAP MLA Naresh Yadav, in the Quran Sharif sacrilege case, it is evident that Kejriwal is the mastermind behind these acts. The blueprint for such heinous acts originates within the offices of the Aam Aadmi Party,” he said.
Chugh further said that over the past decade, wherever Kejriwal has ventured—be it Delhi, Punjab, or elsewhere—he has adopted a divisive “divide and rule” policy to serve his political agenda. “Whether it was fueling riots in Delhi or desecrating religious scriptures to undermine the faith of millions, such actions are emblematic of AAP’s and Kejriwal’s modus operandi,” he asserted.
Highlighting the seriousness of the matter, the BJP leader demanded that the case be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a thorough and impartial investigation. “Only a fair probe by the CBI can ensure justice for the hurt sentiments and faith of millions,” he added.
Chugh also urged the Election Commission of India to take suo motu cognizance of the issue. “If the Aam Aadmi Party and its leader Arvind Kejriwal are found guilty of such divisive acts, the Election Commission must immediately revoke AAP’s recognition,” he said.
