Srinagar, July 26: Under the dynamic leadership of Joint Director SCERT Kashmir, Syed Shabir Ahmad (JKAS), the Vidya Pravesh study ignited a transformative spark in education across eight districts of the Kashmir Division on July 23, 2025.

“This study is a beacon of hope, empowering our children to embrace learning with joy and confidence,” said Syed Shabir Ahmad, whose vision propelled this initiative forward. As per a statement issued here, spanning 21 schools in Baramulla (4), Srinagar (4), Budgam (2), Pulwama (2), Anantnag (2), Ganderbal (2), Kulgam (2), and Kupwara (3), this inspiring effort empowered children aged 5-6 to step boldly into a world of possibilities.

Guided by the Ministry of Education and Literacy, New Delhi, and led by NCERT’s esteemed professors Dr. Viney Kumar, Dr. Gulfam, and Dr. Chidanand from RIE Ajmer, the study was a collaborative triumph with SCERT Kashmir, locally coordinated by Nodal Officer of the FLN Mission. Twenty Field Investigators (FIs) from SCERT and DIETs underwent a capacity-building program on July 23 at SCERT Kashmir, equipping them to implement the Vidya Pravesh study with precision and passion.

Over two days, FIs immersed themselves in schools, observing morning prayers, classroom ecosystems, infrastructure, hygiene, and mid-day meal facilities.

They engaged with Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) teachers, assessing their knowledge, skills, and application of the Vidya Pravesh preparatory module. School leaders were evaluated on their vision for holistic development and strategies to address learning gaps, ensuring a comprehensive approach to foundational education.

The study’s heart lay in its joyful engagement with children. In stress-free settings, young learners arranged geometric shapes, identified colors and numbers, sequenced picture cards to create stories, and painted outlines, showcasing their creativity and motor skills. “We loved the test!” one child exclaimed, laughing as FIs transformed learning into play. This approach, rooted in love and toy-based pedagogy, proved that education flourishes when fear is replaced with fun.
