JAMMU, June 05: Following the declaration of the 2024 LokSabha election results on Tuesday, the BJP high command has summoned its newly elected Members of Parliament (MPs) from the Jammu region to New Delhi.
Sources indicate that both winning candidates, Jugal Kishore Sharma and Dr.Jitendra Singh, promptly departed for Delhi.
The new government at the Centre is expected to take the oath on the 8th of this month. Prior to this, the BJP leadership aims to ensure cohesion among its newly elected MPs and maintain party discipline, sources revealed.
Both Jugal Kishore Sharma and Dr.Jitendra Singh have achieved a notable milestone by winning their respective seats for the third consecutive term from the Jammu region. Dr.Jitendra Singh, the sitting MP and Union Minister, secured the Udhampur-Kathua seat by defeating his closest rival, ChLal Singh of the Congress Party, with a margin of 124,373 votes. Singh garnered a total of 571,076 votes.
Similarly, Jugal Kishore, the sitting MP from the Jammu-Reasi seat, triumphed over Raman Bhalla of the Congress Party by a margin of 131,540 votes, receiving a total of 677,571 votes.
However, despite the BJP’s continued dominance in the Jammu region, the victory margins in the 2024 Parliamentary elections have significantly decreased, nearly halving compared to the 2019 elections.
