SKUAST-Jammu conducted virtual tour of SKUAST-K students

Jammu, Apr 26: Prof. Parshant Bakshi, Head, Fruit Science, and Head, Centre for Organic and Natural Farming, Chatha SKUAST-J along with his PG and Ph.D students of Division of Fruit Science and Organic Farming conducted All India Virtual Tour 2024 of students of Faculty of Horticulture, SKUAST-Kashmir to SKUAST Jammu Chatha in an innovative way as they involved scientist from KVK, Poonch as well as students to various division at Chatha campus of University.
They were explored diverse aspects of horticulture, from Pecan nut production at KVK Poonch by Dr. Muzaffar Mir alongwith innovative methods to Dragon fruit cultivation in Chatha by Sumit Boora and Reetika Sharma.
They delved into citrus tissue culture at the Institute of Biotechnology by Megha Patidhar and Mohsin and Organic Strawberry Farming at the Centre for Organic and Natural Farming, Chatha by Ashima and Satyam. The other students associated were Mukesh Sarkar, Prachi Soni, Mangilal, Kunal and Jitender. Dr.Parshant Bakshi discussed that the purpose of involving the students is to give them exposure for their skill development under NEP 2020. He has taken this initiative for the first time to expose students to activities related to Horticulture crops directly from the field.
Dr.Nowsheen Binti, Tour Incharge expressed heartfelt gratitude for Prof. Bakshi’s leadership and the students’ dedication in making the tour a success.
