Jammu, Apr 18: Padamshree Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Union Secretary Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, visited the Directorate of Ayush, Jammu, and conducted a detailed inspection of the Government Ayurvedic Hospital, Jammu. He was accompanied by Director Ayush J&K Dr Mohan Singh.
During the visit, he toured various sections of the hospital, including the Outpatient Department (OPD) Block, Inpatient Department (IPD) Blocks, and various Procedure Sections, where he interacted with patients, attendants, doctors, and paramedical staff.
Mr Kotecha commended the efforts of Medical Superintendent Dr Vandana Dogra and Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr Aruna Bhat for providing specialised services such as Panchkarma, Ksharsutra, Leech Therapy, and Para-surgical procedures at the Government Ayurvedic Hospital Jammu. He also appreciated the provision of diagnostic services like Radio diagnosis and Pathological services at affordable rates.
He advised the hospital officials to strive for National Accreditation Board for Ayush Hospitals (NABH) Certification and assured support for upgrading the hospital’s infrastructure. Mr Kotecha also visited the Demonstration Herbal Gardens established in the Directorate of Ayush and Charak Vatika in Government Ayurvedic Hospital Jammu and applauded the initiative to educate Ayush practitioners about herbal gardens.
Kotecha praised the artwork depicting Ayush components on the walls of the Directorate of Ayush and Hospitals. He encouraged in-service Post Graduate Doctors to appear for the National Teachers’ Eligibility Test to serve in Government Ayush Colleges of UT of J&K. He also acknowledged the functioning of the Panchkarma and Ksharsutra units in the Hospital and advised documenting their extraordinary works.
The Secretary appreciated the micro-management approaches of the Directorate of Ayush J&K, including various public health campaigns and the constitution of Institutional Ethics Committees for evidence-based clinical studies on Ayurveda & Unani treatment protocols. He emphasized the need to replicate such initiatives nationwide.
