Srinagar, Apr 15: Expressing confidence in his widespread support across the Anantnag-Kulgam and Rajouri-Poonch regions, National Conference candidate for the Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha seat Mian Altaf on Monday said that he is well-received by the people there, more so than candidates from other parties.
Talking to reporters, Mian, who hails from the Kangan area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district said that he respects all his opponents, including Ghulam Nabi Azad, and dismisses the idea of any candidate being an outsider. He cited examples of various leaders who have contested elections outside their home constituencies.
Mian said his main campaign focus is to reverse the Central government’s 2019 decisions, which included the revocation of Article 370 and the division of the state into two union territories, actions that he said the people of Jammu and Kashmir have not accepted.
Mian pledged to address local concerns and emulate the development work he has done in his assembly constituency, Kangan.
He said that resolving political uncertainty is crucial for progress, noting similar sentiments in Ladakh and Jammu, alongside Kashmir.
Notably, the Anantnag-Rajouri seat was newly formed after Jammu and Kashmir’s reorganisation, combining areas from both the South Kashmir and Jammu constituencies.
I’m more acceptable in Anantnag-Rajouri constituency: Mian Altaf
