Srinagar, Apr 06: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary Tarun Chugh who is also party in-charge of J&K, on Saturday said the party’s tireless efforts prevented agendas of Pakistan and China from succeeding in Jammu and Kashmir. He accused the National Conference (NC), Congress and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) of ruining the region during the past three decades.
Addressing a press conference here during the BJP’s 44th foundation day, Chugh said they have worked on the ground to thwart the agendas of Pakistan and China in the region. “For the past three decades, party workers made supreme sacrifice and the list is very long, from T L Taploo in the 1990s to Waseem Bari last year,” he said.
The BJP leader was flanked by the party’s General Secretary Sunil Sharma and Waqf Board Chairperson Dr Darakhshan Andrabi.
He accused the three political families of remaining “unashamed” despite the considerable bloodshed in Jammu and Kashmir during their tenure, showing no mercy.
“Abdullahs, Muftis and Gandhis have exploited and ruined the lives of the people of Jammu and Kashmir for an extensive period,” Chugh said. “The dirty politics of these families no longer resonate with the people of Jammu and Kashmir who have opted for the path of development, peace and prosperity, disregarding the legacy of these families, which only brought graves for the youth of J&K.”
Pointing out Farooq Abdullah, he drew an analogy between treating a disease and addressing issues, saying the BJP’s actions in Jammu and Kashmir have prevented further bloodshed, which could have escalated. “People have come to realise that NC, PDP and Congress have perpetrated significant injustices upon them, and they now acknowledge that the BJP has ushered in peace and development in J&K while effectively curbing violence,” he added.
Tarun condemned the Congress manifesto as a blatant fabrication, predicting that the people will reject it and reaffirm their support for the Narendra Modi-led government. “Congress manifesto smells of the traitor-ship. For these political parties, the family is the whole nation, but for Modi ji the whole nation is his family,” he said, adding that Congress should clear its stand on Article 370 and its stand to support the “atrocities” on people.
“Modi Ji has turned J&K from the terrorism capital to a tourism capital,” he said.
Later, Chugh along with Sunil Sharma and Dr Darakhshan hoisted the party’s flag and addressed the party leaders at S1 Church Lane in Srinagar. He highlighted the party’s vision and achievements in Jammu and Kashmir, emphasising its dedication to the region’s development, welfare, and unity. There has been a transformation of Kashmir from terrorism to tourism under the Modi government, Chugh said.
The BJP on the occasion paid tributes to its workers and leaders from Kashmir who laid down their lives for the country’s unity and integrity.
