Kulgam, Apr 04:The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kulgam stated that all arrangements are in place for the upcoming festivals such as Eid ul Fitr, Navratra, and Baisakhi. The DC, Athar Aamir Khan, along with Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sahil Sarangal, visited Ziyarat Shareef in Kulgam, the Gurdwara at Palpora, and the Migrant colony Vessu to inspect the arrangements firsthand.
The DC, while speaking to reporters, said that preparations for the three festivals have been completed. He said that he had already conducted meetings with all line departments and community representatives, including Muslims, Hindus, and Sikhs. “Discussions were held on grievances such as water supply, electricity, food and supplies, ration availability, security, and traffic management,” he said.
DC Kulgam said that the administration is committed to ensuring that these festivals are celebrated positively, and preparations have been made accordingly. The district administration has reached out to various places to assess the arrangements. Such outreach also helps to enhance the quality of arrangements further.
Regarding the electricity scenario in the district, the DC said that he has assessed the electricity schedule report. “There has been a decrease in distress and unscheduled cuts in the district in recent days. However, the concerned department has been instructed to ensure proper electricity supply throughout the district,” he said.
He said that there have been some issues with damaged transformers, but efforts have been made to repair them promptly for smooth supply. “There was a shortage of transformer oil, which has been addressed by the higher-ups at KPDCL. Sufficient transformer oil is now available, and the workshop is functional,” he said and urged residents to use electricity judiciously.
