Srinagar, April 01: The Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Education on Monday issued directions to set up control rooms in hospitals to provide speedy and quality health care services to patients, especially in tertiary care institutions.
In this regard, the health department has issued a circular and instructed that all Government Health Institutions throughout the Union Territory of J&K should set up control rooms to provide speedy and quality care to patients.
“All the Govt. Medical Colleges/other tertiary care institutions of Health & Medical Education Department are instructed to establish Control Rooms for inter-departmental consultation of in-door patients by consultants/faculty members of different departments and for other emergency contacts/consultations within their respective institutions,” the circular said.
It said the Control Room should be conspicuous, easily accessible to the patients and attendants and as much as possible located near the emergency premises of hospitals.
“The control rooms should be equipped with adequate manpower round the clock with proper connectivity of the telephone services,” the H&ME circular said.
It said that all calls from different departments sent shall be transferred to the respective departments for prompt and efficient patient care.
“The personnel/officials manning Control Rooms shall maintain a record of all calls from different departments, besides, ensure that these calls are attended within the stipulated time,” it said.
The circular said that doctors, consultants and faculty members shall mandatorily attend all such calls. It further said that these circular instructions shall be followed in letter and spirit by all the doctors, consultants, and faculty members without fail.
