ASCOMS holds 1st Dr. Ritu Gupta lecture

Jammu, Dec 7: ASCOMS & Hospital and Dr. Ritu Gupta Foundation organized the FIRST Dr. Ritu Gupta Lecture which was attended by a large number of faculty, staff and students. 
The Chief Guest on the occasion was Bhupinder Kumar, IAS, Administrative Secretary, Health & Medical Education, Govt. of UT of J&K, Dr. Saleem-Ur-Rehman, Director Health Services, Jammu and D.K. Batra, Secretary, ASCOMS were the Guest of Honour. The other dignitaries who attended the function were Mr. Manik Batra, Trustee, ASCOMS, Mr. Bhisham Batra, Trustee, ASCOMS, Dr. Pavan Malhotra, Director Principal, ASCOMS & Hospital, Dr. Ghanshyam Saini, Officiating Principal, GMC, Jammu, Dr. A.S.Bhatia, Principal, GMC, Rajouri, Dr. Noor Ali, Principal, GMC, Doda, Dr. Rakesh Gupta, Principal, IGDC, Jammu, Dr. Ashok Sharma, Prof & HOD, Ophthalmology, GMC, Jammu, Dr. Abhishek Mahajan, IPS, SSP, Samba, Sh. Babu Ram Gupta, Father-in-Law of Late Dr. Ritu Gupta.
The function started with the opening address of Dr. Geetika Gupta, Prof. & Head Physiology, ASCOMS & Hospital who said that Dr. Ritu Gupta was her teacher in GMC, Jammu. “She was an epitome of humbleness and a passionate medical teacher who was always prepared to help her students at any time. The vacuum created by her demise can never be filled but she will remain in the hearts of all students she taught and the friends and colleagues,” Dr. Geetika said.
Dr. Pavan Malhotra while addressing the gathering said, “This lecture of series was conceived when Dr. Ritu Gupta passed away to keep her memories alive in the medical academia of Jammu & Kashmir as she was a dedicated and committed teacher who would not leave any stone unturned for the progress in Physiology subject.”
Dr. A.S.Bhatia, Principal, GMC, Rajouri also expressed his association with Late Dr. Ritu Gupta when he was serving in GMC, Jammu as Prof & HOD, Biochemistry where he “always found her working very hard, smartly and with a smile on her face”. 
Dr. Urvi Gupta, Daughter of Dr. Ritu Gupta, conveyed her feelings for her departed mother in the form of a wonderful and heart-touching documentary that brought tears to the eyes of everyone.
Mr. Suresh Jandiyal, Brother-in-Law of Dr. Ritu Gupta in his address thanked ASCOMS Management, Director Principal and the faculty members of ASCOMS for arranging this Lecture in the loving memory of Late Dr. Ritu Gupta.
Dr. Ashok Sharma, Prof & Head, Department of Ophthalmology, GMC, Jammu expressed his feelings about the sad and unfortunate demise of Dr. Ritu Gupta which left everyone in shock. He informed the audience that before her death, she had donated her both eyes which brought light to the life of two needy persons who happen to visit his department for a check-up. 
Dr. Pavan Malhotra, Director Principal in his address thanked Bhupinder Kumar, Administrative Secretary, Health & Medical Education for accepting the invitation.
