SKPA’s course on skills, attitude for police begins

Udhampur, Dec 7: A three-day course on “Developing Good Communication, Skills, Behaviour, Attitude and Responsibility towards the General Public” by SKPA culminated on Wednesday.
Sixteen officers of J&K Police to the rank of Inspectors to SSsP participated in the course which was designed to equip the participants with knowledge of emotional intelligence, self-awareness, emotional self-control, emotional expression, identifying the need for soft skills/emotional intelligence in relation to police profession, stress and time management, behavior and attitude viz-a-viz managing change in police organization, self-awareness, self-improvement, effective communication, understanding core communication skills, the role of media for building better relationships between police and public and professional ethics and human values.
On the occasion, a valedictory function was organized in the academy. Mohan Lal, JKPS, SSP, Dy, Director (Indoor Trg) was the chief guest on the occasion. In his address, Mohan Lal said there is a scope for improvement at every stage of learning. He emphasized to the participants that “all of you have good knowledge of work at your respective level but you have to carry on the process of learning”. “By means of organizing this programme, efforts were made to spark your skills of communication, behavior and attitude toward the general public with the hope that the skills gained will be shared with fellow policemen to make our society feel safe and dignified,” he said.
Eminent speakers from different Academia including Ms Swati Basotra Visiting Faculty IIT Jammu, Dr. Karan Nathwani, Asst Professor, IIT Jammu, Dr. Vikram Ghulati, Principal Shivalik College of Education Udhampur, Dr. Mahesh Koul, Post-Doctoral Fellow Indian Council of Philosophical Research (ICPR). New Delhi, Asstt. Prof. SKUAST Jammu, Dr.RashiTaggar, Asstt. Prof. SMVDU and Dr. Manisha Kohli Deptt. of Psychology GDC Udhampur shared their valuable experience and knowledge with the participants. The Valedictory function was also attended by Shri Pawan Kumar Sharma, JKPS, SP, Dy. Director (Outdoor) and member faculty.
The course was coordinated by Sunmati Gupta, Dy.SP, AD(Q) and assisted by Chander Mohan, Inspector.
