Srinagar, Nov 10: RISE Talent Search Examination is first of its kind activity conducted across Kashmir Valley with an aim to identify talented students by examining students of class 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th to provide them with appropriate and adequate guidance so that they excel in their fields of interest.
RISE team will be visiting schools in every district to conduct this talent search. Shah Ahsan, who is managing the talent search said “Based on the Talent Search Examinations, a group of meritorious students from across rural and urban areas of Kashmir will be identified for further mentorship, counselling and will be provided prizes and scholarships.”
Salman Shahid, co-founder of RISE said, “From our experience of working closely with students in Kashmir, we have observed that in our region, we lack mechanisms to identify students with potential and desire to excel in their areas of interest, and, hence, we are not able to provide them with adequate guidance at appropriate time. As a result, even most of our bright students are unable to perform well in various competitive examinations and, consequently, are unable to secure admissions to the most prestigious universities/colleges of India and abroad. Hence, such kind of an academic activity is the need of the hour in Kashmir.”
RISE has conducted such activity earlier on multiple occasions. The activity was a huge success, where RISE targeted over 15000 students, and were able to offer specialized counseling and mentoring to the subsequently identified talented students. Some of the identified students are currently studying in various IITs and Ivy League universities in USA.
This year RISE plans to conduct this activity at a much larger scale with an aim of having a greater impact among the student community. Rahid, one of the team members responsible for the talent search said, “We will be able to achieve great results through this activity, and hence, will shape the future of a lot of bright students across the valley.”
