Rajouri, Dec 10: Apni Party Vice President and Former Minister, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali  Saturday demanded holding of early assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a gathering following the inauguration of Apni Party Office in Rajouri, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali said the Party has inroads in all the regions of Jammu and Kashmir and won the trust of the people due to the unbiased and development based policy. “Apni Party represented the people of J&K when other political parties were not ready to speak up for the people who were in distress following abrogation of Article-370”.
He said over 3 years have passed and the UT administration is working in place of an elected Govt and has lost trust of the people. “As a result, the gap between administration and the people has widened which has given rise to multiple issues from poor pace of development, growing unemployment and arrogance among Govt officials.”
Chowdhary said that the popular Govt forms a public-friendly policy but the bureaucratic administration has failed to do so and hence fails to perform. “One can note that the people avoid going to public offices as they know that they will not be listened to,” he said.
To end the suffering of the people, he said that “It is important to hold assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir without delaying it further and restore the statehood.” He said the people have developed a feeling of alienation with the LG administration and there is a need to end the suffering of the people before it is too late.
Meanwhile the former minister expressed concern over the lack of basic amenities in remote rural areas including proper health care facilities and better road connectivity. “It is shocking to note that the people in remote areas still lack the basic facilities which are actually basic human rights and guaranteed by the Govt,” he added.
