Srinagar, Aug 24: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Saturday said his party will contest the upcoming assembly elections independently, without forming alliances with any other political party.
Bukhari made the statement while addressing the media persons during his visit to the Chanapora Constituency where he is actively campaigning.
The said JKAP will field candidates in 60 constituencies, with 40 seats in the Kashmir region and 20 in Jammu. “The decision to go solo in the elections comes after lessons learned during the previous Lok Sabha elections, where alliances did not yield the expected results,” he said.
The Apni Party Chief criticised other political entities, accusing them of forming both open and secret alliances. He reiterated his party’s determination to contest all 60 seats on the “strength of our own policies and public support”.
Meanwhile, according to a party statement, Bukhari said he has a “clear vision” for empowering the youth so they can play their role in shaping the future of Jammu & Kashmir.
He said if Apni Party receives a public mandate, its government will harness J&K’s natural potential to create infrastructure for educational and skill development institutions, as well as employment opportunities for the younger generation, who hold the future of this region.
During his day-long visit to the Chanapora constituency, Bukhari assured the residents that he would not let them down if they entrusted him with their mandate in the upcoming elections.
He said, “Unlike conventional politicians, I am committed to a politics of honesty and integrity. I assure you that you will not be disappointed if you give me your mandate to serve. This constituency is not just my home; it’s a place where I know every corner, and I am fully aware of the issues and problems they are grappling with. I promise that once I receive your mandate, I will ensure the prompt redressal of these issues and grievances.”
Speaking about the party’s agenda and policies, the JKAP President said, “Our primary agenda is clear and straightforward. We aspire for sustained peace, stability, prosperity and development in Jammu and Kashmir. We are committed to ensuring political and economic empowerment of the people here.”
