Vomedh releases Gopi Krishen Bahar’s book ‘Charnamrit’

Jammu, Nov 13: A book of devotional songs written by Gopi Krishen Bahar a renowned writer, poet and performer was released on Sunday at a gala musical event organized by Vomedh in association with TRN at KL Sehgal Hall Jammu.
The book “Charnamrit” is a composition of devotional songs which was highly appreciated by the galaxy of writer, poets, and journalists who attended the book release function.
Veteran journalist Sohail Kazmi was the chief guest on the occasion while BN Abhilash, Ramesh Hangloo and Pitambar Razdan were the guest of the honour during the event.
The event was a one of its kind book release functions where apart from book release the author Gopi Krishen Bahar was presented with a traditional turban and first time Dastar Bandi was witnessed during the book release function.
Vomedh, which has always been trying to keep the old Kashmiri Pandit tradition alive, came up with the idea to continue the old tradition of Dastar Bandi of the author as a mark of respect for the author of the book.
Apart from this, a musical event was also organized on the occasion consisting of Bahar’s devotional songs composed by Rajesh Khar and sung by Nirmala along with Vishal Pandita and Sharad Pandita. The musicians include Chandan Jasu and Rahul Bhardwaj.
Speaking on the occasion, Sohail Kazmi lauded the role by writers such as Gopi Krishen Bahar to preserve and propagate the traditional ‘Leela’ and added that the society needs to march forward with rich age-old tradition behind them which gives strength to the social fabric of the society.
Ramesh Hangloo, of Sharda Radio said that Gopi Krishen was a gem among the community writers and his compositions are a reflection of the rich cultural heritage of Kashmiri Pandits.
Rohit Bhat, director Vomedh, said that it was the endeavour of Vomedh to highlight the community icons who have devoted their life for the enrichment of the traditional Kashmiri Pandit heritage, adding that Dastar Bandi of the author was a step in that direction.
Others who lauded the role of Gopi Krishen Bahar include BN Abhilash and Pitambar Razdan besides galaxy of writers, authors and poets.
