Srinagar, Nov 01: Bringing laurels to valley, two Kashmiri siblings from Srinagar bagged Gold and Silver medals in Areena JIU-JITSU World Championship held at Dibba Al Hisn Sports and Cultural Club, Abudhabi, UAE from 15th- 24th October, 2022.
MualimMudasir has won two Gold in two events. While his sister MairaMudasir also bagged two silver medals in the same event.
Father of the duo, Mudasir Aziz Shora told Rising Kashmir that his son Mualim and daughter MairaShora bagged two gold and two silver medals in their weight category in the world jiujitsu championship played in Abu Dhabi.
MualimMudasir, 7 is class 2nd student and MairaMudasir 9, a class 4th student at Modern Indian School Dibba Fujairah, Sharjah.
Shora said that the duo started their jiujitsu martial arts journey just nine months ago and are proving their mettle at a very early age.
“Mualim defeated players from Oman and Kuwait and all the clubs from Unites Arab Emirates (UAE) participated in this mega event,” he said.
Mudasir Aziz Shora-originally from Sona Masjid, HabaKadal area in Srinagar is currently residing in Abu Dhabi for the past several years along with his family.
Talking to Rising Kashmir about the win and achievement of his young kids Mudasir said that he and his spouse have always been encouraging their kids to utilize their inner talent and interest in the field of their choice and today they have proved their metal. He urged all parents to take their kids out to participate in games and sports.
“Sports encourages a child to learn discipline and to develop a sense of commitment. It is a great way for children to learn that practice is the best way to improve performance,” he added.
Shora believes playing a sport as a child may equate to better employment opportunities in the future either.
