Rajouri, Jan 24: To raise awareness about the issues of girls, a series of programs were held across the Rajouri district to celebrate ‘National Girl Child Day’. The main event was organized at the conference hall of PWD Dakbanglow where a large number of girl students, representatives of NGOs, newly selected JK CCE-2021 officers and their parents participated.
The chief guest Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal while addressing the audience highlighted the importance of gender equality and how girls are an essential part of society. He emphasized the importance of providing education to them and ensuring their rights.
The DC highlighted the initiatives of the district administration and the Department of Social Welfare taken for the empowerment of women, children, and old age persons. He spoke about the initiatives of the Central and UT government that provide education and healthcare assistance to girls as well as offer economic opportunities to them.
Listing the women-centric schemes of the Union government, he said the schemes like ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ are bound to bring a drastic change in the public mindset and encourage the participation rate of girls at all levels of growth.
The Deputy Commissioner honored the newly-selected female officer of the Jammu Kashmir Combined Competitive Examination – 2021, as well as girl students who performed exceptionally well in academics, sports, and other activities. He also felicitated the young male officer of the Jammu Kashmir Combined Competitive Examination – 2021 during the ceremony.
“The event was a testament to the progress made in the district towards gender equality and the empowerment of women. It was a joyous occasion that brought together the community to celebrate the accomplishments of the female officers and students,” the district administration said.
