Srinagar, Jan 24: Aryans Group of Colleges, Rajpura on Tuesday celebrated Basant Panchmi with full vivacity and enthusiasm at its campus. The college was decorated with yellow flowers, kites and rangoli. Everyone wore yellow and green clothes while yellow sweets were distributed among those present on the occasion.
To start the celebrations, Sarswati Puja was performed. The students participated in various competitions including kite flying, fancy dress, etc organized on this day. They showcased the vibrant tradition of Punjab depicting the spirit of inner freedom, creative pride and zest for life.
This year Basant Panchami will be celebrated on January 26. It is to be mentioned that according to the Hindu calendar, the Basant Panchami festival falls on the fifth day (Panchami) of the Hindu month of Magha. The festival is usually considered to mark the onset of spring in India.
