Jammu, July 11: The Jammu and Kashmir Congress held a strong protest demonstration and took out a protest rally here on Thursday against the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Central government for “failing” to check growing terrorism in the region.
The protest was led by J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Vikar Rasool Wani and Working President Raman Bhalla. The Congress leaders and workers raised slogans against the BJP, criticising its “inability” to curb terrorism.
They raised slogans against Pakistan for aiding and abetting terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. “Since 2021, there have been several terrorist attacks in the Jammu region, resulting in the martyrdom of 42 soldiers and officers,” Wani told reporters. “We are deeply concerned about the security situation here in J&K.”
Wani criticised the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government for its claims of peace and normalcy in the union territory following the abrogation of Article 370, calling these claims false. He blamed the BJP government and the Lieutenant Governor administration for failing to halt the cycle of terrorist attacks.
“These incidents have created a sense of fear among the people. The government’s anti-terrorism policies have failed, and they (BJP) are not fit to govern,” the J&K Congress Cheif said.
