Srinagar, Oct 10: Abhishek Singh (26) and Abhijeet Singh (21) from Jammu and Kashmir of Wushu team have stormed into finals in the 36th National Games being played at Gujarat.
As per the chief coach Wushu and Dronacharya Awardee KuldeepHandoo, two players of J&K UT have qualified for finals in Wushu sport in the national games being played in Gujarat.
Abhishek Singh Jamwal (56kg) has defeated Maharashtra in the semi-finals and cruised into finals. He will face off with an opponent from Punjab in the finals.
While Abhijeet Singh has defeated Services in the semi-finals and cruised into finals. He will play against UP in the finals in the 70kg weight category.
However, Ishant Singh, Owais, Pratham and Pankaj Raina from J&K have lost in semi-finals and thus could manage to bag only bronze medals for the Union Territory in the national games.
“J&K Wushu team has so far secured 06 medals in the games and 02 players will battle on October 11 for the yellow medals,” coach Handoo said.
KuldeepHandoo told Rising Kashmir that both the players are strong contenders for the gold in Wushu in national games.
“We hope they will bag at least a yellow medal for J&K and will unfurl the flag of UT at the national arena,” he added.
