Govt appoints Iqbal Lone as Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities

Srinagar, September 29: Government on Wednesday appointed Development Practitioner Iqbal Lone as Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Social Welfare Department.
Appointment comes after government winded up all the commissions immediately after the abrogation of Article 370 including the Disabilities commission in the year 2019.
Lone who holds BSC, MSW, Human Rights besides 3 International fellowships, several specialised diplomas and research including more than 20 years of experience in the development fields.
One of the senior officers in social welfare department said that this is for the first time when government has issued notification and advertisement for this post based the central Act and rules, it was a tight competition between these applicants and the merit, interview was conducted strictly as per the guidelines, concern Act and rules.
