Budgam, Sep 16: Department of Health in collaboration with chemists and druggists association of Budgam, organised on Friday a drug awareness cum medical camp at Raiyaar Budgam.
A large number of people including the school children took part in the programme.
MS District Hospital Budgam, BMO Magam, BMO Budgam, BMO Beerwah, BMO Khag, BMO Khansahib, Assistant Drug Controller Budgam and other officials were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, CMO Budgam Dr Tajamul Hussain Khan said that it is the responsibility of the individuals, entire community and all social and religious organisations to help to raise awareness about this major health issue ie Drug Addiction and it’s threat to the societies.
He said that there is need to protect the right to health for the most vulnerable, including children and youth who by any means fall in the trap of drug addiction.
He added that instead of raising mere slogans, we all should come with practical solutions to adress this menace.
He elaborated that drug addiction crises require nimble and adaptive efforts.
Dr Tajamul said the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan has been valiantly fighting against the baleful repercussions of substance abuse at the ground level with the help of local administration, master volunteers, online competition and several events.
While praising the efforts and support of Secretary Health, Bhupinder Kumar and Director Health Services Kashmir Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, Dr Tajamul said that this Abhiyaan is contemporary to engage youth and comprehensive to converge the activities done by all the stakeholders for a common goal of making India free of substance abuse.
Dr Tajamul thanked CDA and media fraternity for such awareness camps and efforts and hoped that in future they all will continue their support and will help to make Budgam a drug free district.
