Baramulla, Dec 19: Scores of Anganwadi workers in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday held a protest demonstration against the newly approved Human Resource (HR) Policy, calling for the revocation of the policy.
The protesting Anganwadi workers gathered at the ADC office in Sopore, where they registered their protest and demanded revocation of the government order at the earliest. The protesting employees took out a rally in the town.
The protesting employees said the policy framed by the government is totally unacceptable and should be revoked immediately.
“If the government is claiming ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padao’, is this how they are going to save the future of Betis across the country,” the women protestors said.
They said they will continue their protest till the order is revoked.
“We welcome the retirement policy but what about afterwards. We have our families back at our homes,” they added.
In November this year, the government gave its approval to a plan for a complete human resources policy to govern hiring, leave policies, promotions, and other crucial facets of the department’s essential workforce.
A protesting employee claimed that an order No. 222-JK of Social Welfare Department, dated 30.11.22, set the retirement age at 60 and included a number of unjustified clauses, such as the disengagement of workers and helpers who reach the age of 60.
“Why is the government trying to make our lives hell at this stage despite the fact that we have always provided our best service to the health department?” the protesting health worker said.
