Srinagar, Oct 13: The Meteorological Department (MeT) officials on Thursday said that they were expecting widespread rain and snowfall in higher reaches between 20th and 21st October in Kashmir.
Deputy Director of Indian Meteorological Centre Kashmir, Mukhtar Ahmad told Rising Kashmir that they were expecting mostly dry and clear weather till October 18th. Thereafter from 19th -20th afternoon, there is a prediction of snowfall in higher reaches and rains in plains, he said.
“The intensity of snow will be very low and mostly higher reaches will experience light snowfall. The plains will witness light to moderate rains during the same period,” he said.
Mukhtar said in the coming days, there will be a slight decrease in day temperatures in the Valley and evenings will be colder.
On Thursday, following the decrease in day temperatures owing to cloudy weather conditions in the Valley, Srinagar recorded 23.4 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature at 7.8 degrees Celsius.
