Kashmir Expo Start-up for Livelihood to be inaugurated on Wednesday

Srinagar, 08 Nov: The three-day Kashmir Expo Start-ups for Livelihood event, which begins today in Kashmir, is a step toward an opportunity and platform to ‘Showcase Futuristic Innovators,’ officials said on Tuesday.

 

Addressing a Curtain Raiser Press Conference in Srinagar, officials stated that the three-day mega Expo event is a first of its type in the valley, with around 50 start-ups showcasing their products and services.

 

In response to a question, regarding the scope of innovators coming out from IUST and NIT, Dr. Anita Gupta Advisor and Head of Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the Department of Science and Technology said that the Expo is not just confined to a few only, but the event is aimed at to showcase futuristic Innovators, stating that the Jammu and Kashmir have enormous potential for startups.

 

Dr. Vipin Kumar, Director at National Innovation Foundation –India, an institution of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India while addressing the media said that they have invited students from schools, Universities, Policy Makers, and Government officials for the event and they are supporting NIT and SKUAST in the valley.

 

“We want the students to witness the innovators during the three-day mega Expo event so that in future they don’t look forward to becoming job seekers but should aim to become job providers”, Dr. Vipin said.  

 

As per the details shared in the presser, Union Minister of State for Prime Minister’s Office and Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Atomic Energy and Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh will inaugurate the three-day ‘Kashmir Expo Start-ups for Livelihood’ event on 09 November 2022.

According to the officials, the expo is being organized under the aegis of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India at Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC), Srinagar in association with National Innovation Foundation-India and Lieutenant Governor Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha will represent the Jammu and Kashmir governments at the event and will be also the chief guest on the third and final day of the event.
