Srinagar, Mar 28: Two days after a couple was detained from RSPura area of Jammu district in connection with pro-Khalistan separatist preacher  Amritpal Singh, the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday said they are probing the case and more people are being questioned.

A senior police officer told Rising Kashmir that some people in Union Territory are being questioned to probe the Amritpal Singh links and matter has been already discussed with Punjab police.

“Whatever inputs we get regarding the case, it is being followed. So far no concrete evidence has been found but efforts are on to track the smuggling of licenced weapons,” he said.

The officer said multiple teams have been deployed at Lakhanpur to track the movement from nearby Punjab.

On Saturday, Amrik Singh, a resident of RS Pura and his wife Sarabjeet Kour were detained by Jammu Police and further handed over to Punjab Police for reportedly having links with Papalpreet Singh close associate of Amritpal Singh.

On 20th March,Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Dilbag Singhsaid that Pro-Khalistan preacher Amritpal Singh’s ‘Waris Punjab De’ outfit procured some weapons from Jammu and Kashmir, and all help will be extended to the Punjab Police in the case.

“Wherever Punjab Police needs us, we will extend all help to them. Some cases have come to the fore where some weapons were issued from here to the people there,” he said.

DGP said  they have taken cognisance of such cases and  couple of cases have been registered and investigation is underway.

The chief of Waris Punjab De is still escaping the State police’s dragnet. Singh was declared a fugitive on the day, Punjab Police launched a crackdown against him and his pro-Khalistan outfit.
