58 drug peddlers held in Baramulla, narcotics worth over 3 crores seized in first two months of 2023: Police

The Baramulla Police on Wednesday said that it arrested 58 drug peddlers and registered 40 cases against drug peddlers under NDPS during the first two months of the ongoing year. 

 

A police official said that police seized narcotic substances worth crores in the month of January and February 2023 in police district Baramulla. 

 

“During the months of January and February, Baramulla Police registered 40 cases under NDPS Act, arrested 58 drug peddlers & recovered contraband worth 3 Crores, 17 Lacs and 67 Thousands besides a cash amount of 40.15 lac,” the police official said.                                                

Baramulla police requested the general people of Baramulla to come forward with the information of drug peddlers in their areas (identity will be kept confidential) in order to support police to eradicate menace of drugs from the society which is the real sign of Police Public relationship. 

 

“3.14 kilograms of Brown sugar, 152 grams of Heroin, 4.671 kilograms of Charas, 58.20 Kilograms of Poppy Straw and cannabis powder 23 were seized from these drug peddlers,” the police official said. 

 

He further added that during the war against drug peddlers 40.15 lakhs were seized from their possession besides nine vehicles were also seized during the course of action. 

 

Police said that the value of pure contraband in the black market of the seized contraband is approximately 3 Crores 17 Lacs and 82 thousands.
