Srinagar, July 25: In a joint operation, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with security forces, apprehended two associates of the notorious terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) in the Kreeri area of Baramulla. The arrest took place on Tuesday and resulted in the recovery of a cache of arms and ammunition from the suspects.
Acting on specific intelligence about the movement of terrorists in Village Chak Tapper Kreeri, the Baramulla Police and 29 RR (Rashtriya Rifles) swiftly established a Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) at Bus Stop Chak Tapper Kreeri.
The suspects, identified as DayemMajeed Khan and Ubair Tariq, attempted to flee upon noticing the joint security forces naka party. However, the authorities tactfully apprehended them before they could escape.
During the search, the security forces found 2 Chinese pistols, 2 pistol magazines, 14 live pistol rounds, along with an ID Card and a Xerox copy of an Aadhar Card, all of which were immediately confiscated.
Both accused, DayemMajeed Khan and Ubair Tariq, hailed from Check Panjigam and WatrinaPhalwanpora in Bandipora district, respectively. In their preliminary interrogation, the terrorist associates confessed to their affiliation with the banned LeT outfit. They admitted that they had acquired the seized arms and ammunition for the purpose of target killings in District Baramulla.
Subsequently, a case was registered against the arrested individuals under the Indian Arms Act and UA (P) Act at Police Station Kreeri, and further investigations are underway.
