JAMMU, Feb 05: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed enthusiasm as a significant number of NCC cadets joined the Army and J&K Police, urging them to aspire for significant achievements and contribute to societal transformation, aligning with the ‘Viksit Bharat’ vision by 2047. LG Sinha, interacting with Republic Day Parade participants, announced the establishment of four new battalions, increasing the cadet strength from 27,870 to 40,730.
A considerable portion of these cadets has chosen careers in the Army and J&K Police, including 20 officers, 479 Agniveers, and 53 constables, as reported by Defence PRO Suneel Bartwal.
During the interaction, LG Sinha commended the historic participation of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh NCC Directorate cadets in the Republic Day celebrations. He emphasized the NCC’s representation of India’s diversity and unity, highlighting values such as discipline, comradeship, dedication to the nation, and social equity.
The LG applauded the exemplary achievements of NCC cadets, particularly Captain Ulfat Khan, the Parade Commander of the Prime Minister’s rally. He congratulated JUO Dechen Chuskit for receiving the prestigious Raksha Mantri Padak.
Expressing confidence in the youth’s ability to drive change, LG Sinha remarked, “I want youth to hold the rein of change because Youth is the only power that is future-oriented, in sync with reality and equipped with skills to contribute to the journey of Viksit Bharat.”
Reflecting on the NCC’s legacy, the LG praised the organization’s contributions to society and the nation. The establishment of four new battalions is expected to strengthen the NCC’s foundation in the region.
A total of 122 cadets from Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh NCC Directorate participated in the Republic Day celebrations, securing top positions in various categories, including Ballet, Discipline, and the induction of cadets into the Armed Forces. SCC Ulfat Khan led the PM Rally parade, earning the Best Parade Commander Trophy, while JUO Dechen Chuskit received the Raksha Mantri Padak for her outstanding work. The Directorate also received numerous commendations, medallions, and appreciation awards.
