Srinagar, June 28 : In a significant development, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the 100-Bedded Base Hospitals at Baltal and Chandanwari today, marking a momentous occasion for the healthcare infrastructure in the region. The inauguration took place through virtual mode, emphasizing the importance of modern technology in the current times.
Lieutenant Governor Sinha extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), as well as all the associated officials, engineers, and the dedicated workforce for accomplishing the construction of these hospitals in an astounding record time of just 15 days.
Speaking at the event, the Lt. Governor expressed his appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Ministry of Health for their unwavering support and provision of essential resources for the hospitals. These state-of-the-art makeshift facilities, built by DRDO, are set to greatly enhance the healthcare services available to the pilgrims of the esteemed Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, as well as the personnel engaged in Yatra Management.
The Baltal and Chandanwari Hospitals boast cutting-edge equipment, dedicated blocks for doctors and nursing staff, well-equipped ICU wards, oxygenated wards, triage areas, and all other necessary inventories required for critical medical care, thus ensuring comprehensive and high-quality healthcare services.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to the health and well-being of pilgrims and the local community involved in organizing the pilgrimage, the Lt Governor directed health officials to draft proposals for the establishment of permanent hospitals at Baltal and Chandanwari. This strategic move will ensure sustainable healthcare facilities at the base camps, further enhancing the overall pilgrimage experience.
The Lt. Governor emphasized the strict enforcement of all health-related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), with a particular focus on maintaining sanitation and cleanliness in and around the hospitals. He emphasized that it is our collective responsibility to ensure a convenient and hassle-free pilgrimage experience for devotees. In his address, he called upon the doctors and nursing staff to serve the people with utmost compassion and dedication.
Lt Governor Sinha extended his best wishes for the well-being and prosperity of the pilgrims and the entire management team. The inaugural ceremony was attended by esteemed officials including Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, Chief Secretary; Bhupinder Kumar, Secretary, Health and Medical Education Department; Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir; as well as senior officers from DRDO, Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board, and the Civil Administration.
The successful establishment of these base hospitals stands as a testament to the government’s unwavering commitment to providing top-notch healthcare facilities and services to all stakeholders involved in the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra pilgrimage.
