G20 Summit:Advanced healthcare facilities put in place for delegates

Srinagar, May 22: The Health Department Kashmir has made advanced healthcare arrangements and posted specialist doctors as the G20 delegates arrived in Kashmir to take part in the three-day event in Srinagar city on Monday.
The health department has created mini hospitals at the G20 Summit venue sites and made available Intensive Care Unit facilities that are fully ready to tackle cardiac emergencies for emergency situations along with super specialists and medical officers.
Spokesperson, Directorate of Health Services Kashmir, Dr Mir Mushtaq said the directorate has deputed super specialists at the G20 event venues and made all the arrangements.
“The health department has also kept available high-end machinery at the health facilities set up at the venues for G20 delegates,” he said.
Various health officials who were overseeing the facilities have praised the arrangements made by the health department Kashmir for the delegates.
“We have also created kiosks and separate medical booths at the venue sites. Besides that Kashmir Nursing Home and SKIMS Soura have been kept on alert to take care of any emergency,” Mushtaq said.    
The directorate has already set up a 24/7 divisional-level control room at Chief Medical Office Srinagar, Old Secretariat to oversee health arrangements and overall preparedness. The control room has been tasked to prepare roasters for the doctors at the venue sites.
“The control room has been fully equipped with modern medical gadgets and trained staff; both doctors and paramedics have been posted there,” he said.
All required equipment, drugs and essentials have been made available in hospitals and all the venues where all the health-related arrangements have been made for G20 delegates.
Apart from the health care arrangements, health officials said the health department has also made arrangements for Yoga at the venues for the G20 delegates.
The spokesperson said that x-rays facilities, ECG have been upgraded in the hospitals while special beds have been also kept available and oxygen facilities are also available.
The department has trained doctors and paramedical staff in BLS and ALS for which trainings were conducted at the Regional Institute of Health & Family Welfare (RIFW), Dhobiwan.
Officials said the event is helping health department get a makeover as the administration has made every possible effort for the dignitaries from participating nations.
“We want to make sure that we have the best possible healthcare facilities in place for the visiting dignitaries. We are aiming to provide world-class medical care that meets the highest international standards,” the spokesperson said.
Administrative Secretary, Health and Medical Education (H&ME) Department, Bhupinder and Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather have been taking regular round of facilities to take review of the healthcare facilities.
“We have made teams for all locations and deployed people with the required qualifications and they have been briefed about their roles and responsibilities,” officials said.
