Budgam, June 06: The scenic tourist destination of Doodhpathri in central Kashmir’s Budgam district is witnessing a surge in visitor arrivals following its reopening, with authorities reporting weekend footfall of around 2,500 tourists and numbers continuing to rise.

The influx comes as the Doodhpathri Development Authority strengthens infrastructure and visitor facilities while planning new attractions, including winter sports activities, to boost tourism in the meadow.

Speaking to Rising Kashmir, the Chief Executive Officer of the Doodhpathri Development Authority, Riyaz Ahmad Beigh, said that the administration has put in place improved facilities to manage and enhance the tourist experience at Doodhpathri.

He informed that adequate parking arrangements have been made to ensure smooth vehicle movement, along with designated services for pony operators and ATV vehicles. “We are working to streamline activities so that individuals are engaged in their respective trades in an organized manner,” he said.

Beigh said that all tea vendors operating across the meadow have been relocated outside the toll plaza area, which has itself emerged as an attraction where visitors enjoy tea in an open, scenic setting.

Highlighting upcoming developments, he said that a drag lift facility has been constructed and is expected to become operational in the coming winter season, paving the way for the introduction of skiing and other winter sports activities in Doodhpathri.

The CEO also said that manpower has been deployed to ensure regular sanitation and cleanliness in the area. “Our priority is to keep Doodhpathri clean, green, and free from waste so that visitors can enjoy its natural beauty,” he added.

He said that efforts are underway to establish a health centre within the tourist zone to provide immediate medical assistance in case of emergencies. At present, a primary health centre located at Raiyar, in close proximity to the destination, caters to medical needs.

With its lush green landscape and growing infrastructure, Doodhpathri continues to emerge as a prominent tourist attraction in Kashmir, drawing increasing attention from both domestic and international visitors.
