Srinagar, June 6: Inspector General of Police (Traffic), Jammu and Kashmir, M. Suleman Choudhary on Saturday reviewed traffic management arrangements along the Pahalgam axis for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY)-2026.
Accompanied by SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir Liaqat Ali and other officers, the IGP conducted a detailed inspection of designated parking areas for Yatra vehicles and reviewed traffic regulation points, diversion routes, vulnerable stretches, market areas and other critical locations along the pilgrimage route.
The officer also visited various halting points to assess arrangements for regulating vehicular movement and parking during the annual pilgrimage. He stressed the importance of seamless coordination among all stakeholders and directed officers to ensure that traffic management measures are put in place well ahead of the Yatra.
During the inspection, Choudhary briefed officers on their roles and responsibilities and called for meticulous planning of traffic deployment, keeping in view the anticipated influx of pilgrims, local traffic requirements and emergency response needs.
He directed officials to identify and address potential bottlenecks, ensure proper installation of traffic signages and barricades and maintain adequate deployment at all critical points. Special emphasis was laid on efficient parking management, route diversions and unhindered movement of emergency services.
Reaffirming the commitment of the Traffic Police to facilitating a safe and hassle-free pilgrimage, the IGP expressed satisfaction with the ongoing preparations and instructed officers to remain fully prepared for the successful conduct of SANJY-2026.
