Srinagar, Aug 13: Former Member Parliament and General Secretary (Org) JKPDP, Dr Mehboob Beg has said that in replying to the ‘no-confidence motion’ tabled by the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi blamed the Congress for trusting Pakistan and Hurriyat Conference while they were sponsoring terrorism in Kashmir.
In a statement issued here, Beg said, “One wonders that if Congress was a camouflage and his (PM’s) real targets were BJP stalwarts Vajpayee and Advani as it was Vajpayee who extended a hand of friendship to Pakistan from Srinagar (when Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was Chief Minister of J&K) and continued talking to them even when our Parliament was attacked and Kargil war happened (backstabbing).”
It spoke of visionary Vajpayee’s conviction of faith in dialogue, the PDP leader said, adding, that Vajpayee went ahead and created an atmosphere where even (Pak) President Musharraf said that “Kashmir cannot be resolved on the basis of religion and that UN Resolution on Kashmir are obsolete”.
And between them, they almost clinched the Kashmir issue by agreeing to a famous ‘four-point formula’ which included the PDP’s self-rule, Beg said, adding, “Vajpayee even took Hurriyat Conference leadership on board and Advani as Home Minister of India invited Armed HM outfit to Nehru Guest House Srinagar for talks.”
“Beg said that both Vajpayee and Advani were RSS Parcharaks but when they took the reigns of power as Prime Minister and Home Minister, they behaved not as BJP leaders but as Prime Minister and Home Minister of the whole country,” he said.
